His family has been a legendary presence in Durban, South Africa, with well-loved establishments such as Eat Greek, the Greek Taverna, and the Tree of Idleness, enriching the local culinary scene. Nick began his career at the Carlton Hotel in Johannesburg, quickly ascending from a mail-and-office clerk to the front-office manager, where he met his long-time business partner, executive chef Eric Edwards.
Together, they founded Eat Greek Caterers in 1991 and opened the popular Eat Greek restaurant on Broadway in 1995, which served as a staple of Greek dining for a decade. The duo’s ventures evolved over the years, leading to their celebrated Greek-Mediterranean Sunday buffet lunches, initially at the Hellenic Centre in Durban North and now hosted monthly at the Anchorage at PYC.
Nick and Eric are known for their innovative approach to the culinary arts, implementing in-house management and mentorship programs that nurture entrepreneurship within the community.
